Professor Nick Cutter - Douglas Henshall

+ Graduated from his year at University College London with First Class Honours
+ Now researching and lecturing in Evolutionary Zoology at Central Metropolitan University
+ Has always preferred fossils to live animals... and that includes students
+ Likes to relax with a single malt scotch and Joy Division on his stereo
+ Believes there is intelligent life elsewhere in the universe, but not in the government
+ Is recognised as one of the top minds in his field
+ Nick's wife Helen, also an Evolutionary Zoologist, has been mysteriously missing – presumed dead – for the last eight years

Abby Maitland - Hannah Spearritt

+ Went on holiday to the Galapagos Islands as a child and has had a love affair with lizards ever since
+ Left university after only one term when she got a job as a Zoo Keeper
+ Falls in love with the wrong men - likes them moody and a bit dangerous
+ Hobbies include yoga (Ashtanga), karate and kick boxing
+ Prefers animals to people (most of the time)
+ Has a chronic fear of spiders

Stephen Hart - James Murray

+ Junior fencing champion and also junior shooting Olympic prospect. Gave it all up to study natural history
+ Passionately committed to wildlife conservation
+ On average, he runs about 30 miles a week
+ Passionate though depressed supporter of Leeds Utd
+ Had his heart broken when he fell in love as a student and has never really got over it
+ Believes humanity is destroying its own environment through unchecked industrialisation
+ Claims to have no interest in fashion but has a suspiciously large GQ collection in his loo

Connor Temple - Andrew-Lee Potts

+ Favourite food is pizza. Rarely eats anything else
+ Has a secret crush on Abby. Except everyone knows, including Abby
+ Favourite films are the original Star Wars - not the later three - believes George Lucas is God
+ Always wanted to join a crime busting gang after watching Scooby Doo as a kid
+ Hates exercise, loves TV. Doesn't like going out in case he misses something that's never repeated
+ Believes that UFOs are real and that governments have hidden the evidence. Secret ambition is to be abducted by aliens.
+ Once did the Vampire ride 12 times in succession at Alton Towers. Was sick. Didn't mind

Claudia Brown - Lucy Brown

+ Joined the civil service after studying law at university
+ Was engaged for two years but broke it off a month before the wedding. Has had no major love affairs since
+ An only child
+ Hobbies include riding (well), dancing (not so well) and cooking (badly)
+ Believes that an efficient civil servant should take everything in her stride. Including dinosaurs
+ Secret ambition before the anomalies was to quit her job and sail around the world
+ Favourite film used to be JURASSIC PARK. Not any more though...
+ Isn't sure she likes Cutter, but thinks she might be falling in love with him...

James Lester - Ben Miller

+ Hates mess and disorder. Particularly when caused by dinosaurs
+ Believes government knows best and the public have no right to know anything
+ Middle name is Peregrine. This is his most closely guarded secret
+ Went to comprehensive and hates public school boys. Come to think of it, he hates pretty much everybody
+ Married with three children. Never talks about his personal life and rarely admits he even has one
+ Has no strong political allegiance but is very good at office politics
+ Plays squash and tennis, very aggressively
+ Owns over 50 suits, all made to measure, all dark colours. Wears colourful ties because someone once told him it was trendy

Helen Cutter - Juliet Aubrey

+ Helen's first book on genetic mutation - was published when she was in her early 20's
+ Fell in love with Cutter when they were both students
+ Believes the theory of natural selection fails to explain everything. Has made it her life's mission to find a better theory
+ Believes that human reliance on machines and technology has fatally weakened our animal instincts
+ Keeps her own instincts honed with frequent sessions of white water rafting, abseiling, and rock climbing
+ +For the last eight years she's been officially "missing" (although the general consensus is somewhat more morbid than that)
