The 3 of us and our mate Sheridan hung out all the time, wo we've been in the same crew for years. I've never really explained that before, so maybe now people will believe me!”

Paul is emphatic: "I'd say absolutely not.” Hannah adds: "It's not, but I suppose it might seem like that. It was time to be honest really, because it had been going on for a while and we didn't want to, and couldn't, hide it for much longer.”

What do the other band members think?

Paul: “I'd never do it - not for any amount of money. I've never agreed with it, but people can do what they want, can't they? I find it very bizarre - it's supposed to be one of the most important days of your life so why would you want to share it with the whole world?” And his current squeeze Hannah added: "Absolutely not. I've got nothing against other people doing it, but I'd only want the people closest to me there. You're probably given a lot of money for it, but that's not the be all and end all."

Yam magazine – November 2001
The popscene has a new dream couple! Hannah and Paul from S club 7 have been together for 6 months. They told "Yam" how it works and why they kept their love a secret!

The hiding game is over! They have admitted it! Hannah Spearritt, the wild party girl of the group, and Paul Cattermole, the heartbreaker, are a couple and began going out in May 2001. "It was love at second sight!" says Hannah beaming. "We had already known each other for 7 years, but sparks began to fly first in the Spring." And Paul added: "We kept our love secret because we didn't know whether it was only a little fling or whether it was serious. But now we think it's serious!"

They met for the first time in 1994, when Paul and Hannah took part in the youth production "Pendragon". Hannah "I was only 13, and Paul was already 17, when we got to know each other" remembers Hannah. "I fancied him straight-off, but there was no hope, because he was always surrounded by attractive girls!" They both lost contact after a year, but met again 4 years later when Simon Fuller bought them together for S club 7. "That was fate" says Paul. "We couldn't believe it when we both got picked for the band!" At that moment, Paul had a steady girlfriend, but through the stress of S club 7 and the many trips abroad, the romance broke off. Hannah had no steady boyfriend, but she often longed for a relationship.

Six months ago, sparks began to fly between the two. The group were in England on tour – they travelled together on the tour bus, spent nearly every minute with each other and got to know each other better than before. "Hannah and I became very close" says Paul. "When she was tired, she would always lean against me. We told each other all our anxieties and problems, we had total understanding of each other. I noticed I was falling for her. Then we kissed, and I sensed that Hannah had the same feelings!"

At first, they said nothing - they did not tell the rest of the band members. After the English tour and a short holiday, the S club flew to LA in July, to film their new series, Hollywood 7. Before the departure, the pair decided to tell the group about their secret romance. Paul: "We wanted to see how it developed before we went public!" In LA, the atmosphere was much more relaxed than in England. S Club didn't have to play cat and mouse with the paparazzi. They could go out together, without causing a great stir. They could share a hotel room without it being in the newspaper the next day. They were able to do what normal couples do. When they had to film the kiss scene for their new series, that was their moment to "come out". The scene was special for the lovers. Hannah: "We are totally happy and pleased, that the hiding game is over. For me, Paul is my biggest love. We are now looking for a flat to share in London."

Live and Kicking Mag -February 2002
Tell us about your best valentine's day ever!
Hannah: “I've never been going out with anyone on Valentine's Day!”
Paul: “Same here!” (But now you are!)

What would you like to do for Valentine's Day?
Paul: “I'd like to go to the cinema, and then eat out. Or maybe go to the Ice Hotel in Lapland, where everything's made out of ice!”
Hannah: “I'd quite like to go off to Venice and travel on a gondola.”
Paul: ”Ha! ha! Oooh, I don't know if I can afford that!”

Hannah and Paul, was it hard to keep your relationship under wraps?
Paul: “Probably not as difficult as it should havebeen!”
Hannah: “I don't think some people could have done it as long as we did!”
Paul: “We've been together about 10 months. It was a case of either us coming clean or someone saying something that wouldn't have been as truthful.”

Tell us what love means to you:
Paul: “It's when you care about someone so deeply it affects you.”
Hannah: “It's when your souls meet and you come together.”

Rach: “Oh go on, they dished the dirt on us!”
Hannah: “He wrapped it round his wrist and used it as a watch! (laughs) And then he said "Hannah - ask me the time!"”

On snogging the boys...
Hannah: “It would be like snogging your brother!”
Paul: “But then, Hannah's not that girly really, except when it comes to being, well, I don't like to use the word manipulative, but...

On snogging the girls:
Paul: “They're all beautiful girls, obviously, and hand on heart I can say I love them all. Well, maybe love is a bit strong...”

October 2000 "But he never wishes he wasn't in the band so he could pull the S Club girls…” “No way!" he shouts. "there's too much knowledge about each other's bad points. We all have that."

Hannah: (thinks a while) “When I meet someone, I suppose, it takes me a long time to work out whether I really want to be with them, I suppose, yeah. For me to be in a relationship it has to be bloody good." (It's obviously bloody good then!!)

Hannah: "Paul always makes me laugh, he's got a very sarcastic humour!"

Give the person to your right a 'Seven Name'

Are you seeing anyone at the moment?
Paul: “Er, no.” (June 2001, TV Hits. What a little liar!)

NEW!

The statement released on October 19th, from www.ananova.com:
S Club 7 stars reveal their secret romance
S Club 7 stars Paul and Hannah have revealed they have secretly been dating.
The couple have been seeing each other for the past six months.
They have decided to go public with their relationship before there was speculation about their private lives.

Paul Cattermole and Hannah Spearritt met on a stage production seven years ago, way before the band was assembled.
Coincidentally the couple will be seen sharing a kiss on Thursday's edition of their TV drama Hollywood 7.

Paul said: "We wanted to see how things went so we've kept it relatively quiet until now. Things are going well so there's no need to keep it a secret any more."
The pair first became friends while they were working together on a National Youth Music Theatre production of Pendragon. They were brought together again when the band was assembled in 1997.

Hannah was voted one of the world's 100 sexiest women earlier this year by readers of FHM magazine.
She said: "We've known each other for seven years and have got a lot closer since we've been in the band, so we're very happy."

The band said in a statement: "Paul and Hannah are so happy together. We're really pleased it's going so well for them. It's just like two of your really good mates getting together -it's made us all even closer."

7th November 2001 S Club 7's Paul and Hannah's romance 'going well'
S Club 7's Paul Cattermole says his relationship with band mate Hannah Spearritt is "going very well."
He says he sees Hannah most evenings outside work.
The pair revealed in October they had been secretly dating for six months.

Paul told Ananova: "We decided to tell everyone because it was going to get out sooner or later and we wanted to be along the official lines. Obviously we see each other all the time at work, but we see each other most evenings as well. We've no future plans at the moment. We're just happy with the way things are."
Paul and Hannah met on a stage production seven years ago, long before S Club 7 was formed.

German magazine - Januray 2002, about Paul's new haircut:
At first, his girlfriend Hannah was not totally enthusiastic about it! The first time she saw Paul with his new haircut, she almost fell off her chair! Paul said: "I thought she would like to have a trendy boyfriend! But if she can't get used to it, I'll have to grow my hair again!"

Popworld magazine - February 2002, an interview with Hannah:
Since the press found out that you and Paul were a couple, have things become easier or harder? "Its been fine. Me and Paul have grown to ignore things - it's our way. We don't mind people knowing about it -we're not that kind of people, but you learn to ignore things and get on with what you usually do.”

Have you received much support from your fans?
Hannah: "Yeah it's all been thumbs up! It's all been cool!"

Valentine's day is coming up, are you a romantic person?
Hannah: "Not really!! I haven't really thought about it, but I'm sure we'll do something. Like go out for a meal maybe."
So your not really fussed about flowers and chocolates?
Hannah: "Oh no no!!"
What would be your ideal date?
Hannah: "Something fun, maybe go karting or something a bit different."
Do you reckon you’re a good girlfriend?
Hannah: "I don't know you'd have to ask Paul that! I suppose I'm alright..."

NEWSROUND INTERVIEWS - The week leading up to the tour - January 2002
Is it weird now that Hannah and Paul are together?
Bradley: "No, because they've always been good friends. They're definitely soul mates and they've been good friends as far back as I can remember. They've always had something there that no one else has, know what I mean? They've always had special jokes, but thats cool, and it doesnt change anything. They're professional people. You dont have to worry about 2 people, like, hiding in the toilets!”
Is there any chance of you doing a duet on the tour with Hannah, or is that too cheesy?
Paul: “That is a bit cheesy. It's a bit obvious and I'm not one for doing what is obvious. I don't know, let me just ask her....she's laughing at me. So no, not really, I don't think it would happen. I wouldn't want to do a duet with her I don't think.”
Are you sick of people asking you about your relationship with Hannah all the time?
Paul: “Yeah sometimes it does get a bit tough some times, when you just get asked the same questions continually, and obviously being at work the whole time and being in each other's face the whole time, it's not a realistic relationship, So when you have your off days, you don't want to share that with the public because it's got absolutely nothing to do with them, It can be hard.”
Are Paul and Hannah a kissy couple?
Rachel: “They're not actually. I mean they are really close and everything but when they are at work with us they are not. They are really sweet and everything and they go off and have their little chats but they are not really like that as people.”
Why did you and Paul keep your dating a secret to start with?
Hannah: “Just because it's between me and Paul and when things were first getting on the road we didn't feel comfortable telling everyone and we were just seeing how it was going between us two. And then obviously it was going pretty well and we thought it would be nice to be honest with people. When things are in their early stages you don't feel like telling everyone, and you don't feel you have to, because at the end of the day a relationship is between two people and not the whole country. And then when things are going well, you don't want to hide it so you just come out and be honest.”
If Hannah and Paul split up, will the group be affected?
Jo: : “I don't think so. Personally I don't think Hannah and Paul will split up. And even if they did they've got such a close relationship anyway, because they were really best mates before anything ever came from it. I think they're soul mates I really do, I think they're made for each other. If you see them together they're just so right for each other, it's really nice.”

If someone started chatting up one of the girls, would you have a pop or run?
Jon: “That’s happened before. We were in Miami and these guys started chatting up the girls. I put my arm round Rachel, Bradley put his arm round Jo and Paul put his arm round Hannah, and said, “They’re our girlfriends.” That seemed to work!” - 1999

Radio interview on 2fm, 30th January 2002:
When asked what cartoon character they'd be:
Hannah: “Minnie mouse.”
Rest of group: “Awww!”
Paul: “Isn't that what I called you this morning!?”

Did the other band members think that something was going on between Hannah and Paul before they said they were going out?
Tina: “I had my suspicions!”
Jon: “Yeah, suspicions were aroused!” (laughter)
Tina: “Aroused being the word...”
Jon: They've also been close friends...”
Tina: “Yeah, they've always been close.”
Jon: “So, it was kind of nothing!”

Presenter: So Jon, what finally gave it away, that they were going out with each other?
Jon: “I think it was when they stood up and said they were going out with each other!(Much laughter from Tina and Jo) That was definitely it for me!”
Paul: “I thought it was when Hannah started wearing my underwear!” (more laughter!)
Jon: “Actually, it was when you started wearing Hannah's!”
Paul, you say that Hannah wears your underwear? Well, do you ever wear hers? (Much laughter)
Paul: “Erm...I don’t think it would fit! I might get one leg in!”

What's been the most memorable thing in S club 7 so far?
Hannah: “Erm....Paul's trousers falling down!”

What would you be doing in you weren't in S Club?
Hannah: : “I'd be baking cakes! In Norfolk!” What about you Paul? I suppose you'd be baking cakes as well, wouldn't you?! I can imagine you with your little apron on!
Hannah: “Oh yeah, with me! He'd be doing the icing!”
Paul: “Nahhhh, I can't do things like that!”
Hannah: (in very cute, silly, giggly girlfriend voice) “Ohhhhhh, you can!”

CD:UK magazine - February 2002 Each member of S club was revealing something that had shocked them recently.
Paul: ”Wam Bam - it's love man! I was surprised when Hannah and I got it together! We've been mates for ages, but when we first got the band together I'd never have predicted it. I don't think it was much of a shock to the others though! They probably guessed before we even admitted it to each other!"
Hannah: ”Snoggin' Paul! I guess everyone knows who I'm snogging now! I don't like to predict things like that in case they don't come true, but I don't think it was a massive surprise for the rest of the band."

Smash Hits magazine - March 2002 What was the last present you bought and for who?
Paul: “That would have been on Valentines Day for Hannah - I bought her a card."

TV Hits – Dec 2001
Paul: “I remember at school when everyone used to have a kiss under the mistletoe. I liked that. It’s funny! Obviously this year I’ll just be kissing Hannah!”

What are you buying your lovers for Christmas?
Hannah: “I might get Paul the Anna Kournikova fitness video!”

THE LOVE CLUB INTERVIEW - October 2001 TV HITS magazine, with Hannah.
Hannah Spearritt and Paul Cattermole have been band-mates and best friends for 7 years, but six months ago they decided to be something more. Hannah gives us the lowdown on the love affair that's changed S club 7 forever.
TVHits: The news of your romance with Paul has only recently been revealed, but we understand you've been together for the last six months...
Hannah: “Yeah!” (laughs)
TVHits: Did you guys decide to come clean consciously or did the tabloid newspapers find out about it first?
Hannah: “No, we did actually come out with it - which is very unlike me. People were bound to find out anyway and we've been hiding for a long time. We thought that we would be honest and be comfortable with each other. You can't hide forever and we're private people - it's not like us to display our relationship in the paper. But I think for the episode (Of H7) coming next, there's kissing, and that's going to bring about questions. So we thought we'd come out and tell it our way.”
TVHits: Did the rest of the guys in S club 7 know about it before you annoucned it to the world?
Hannah: “Oh yeah! They knew!”
: Was it tough telling them initially?
Hannah: “No, becuase we know them so well. It was kind of obvious anyway.”
TVHits: Has the rest of the group been supportive?
Hannah: "“Yeah, they've been really good. It's made the band stronger in a way - it's been cool.”
TVHits: Do you think that by spilling the beans, it might put added pressure on your relationship?
Hannah: “We were worried about that, yeah. There were ups and downs about telling people. At the end of the day we hope people will be fine. It might make it a little harder but it's not anything we won't get through. It's been, like, a week and a half now (since we told everyone) and there's been no pressure.”
TVHits: “But then again, you have to deal with journalists like us here at TV Hits asking you a lot of questions about it...”
Hannah: “Yeah, it's hard to talk about your relationship. It's a private thing. I know people are interested - we're in the public eye - and you've got to deal with it.”
TVHits: For the S Club 7 fans, it's like a dream come true...
Hannah: “Yeah, they probably think it's really sweet.” (laughs) (We do indeed Hannah!!)
TVHits: The 2 of you met so long ago. Was it great to have a friendship before anything romantic developed?
Hannah: “If I can say one thing about it, it's that we were friends first. And then suddenly this happened! It's good to go from a strong friendship to whatever you call it - a romance!” (laughs)
TVHits: What made it move from a friendship to a romance?
Hannah: “I don't know myself!” (laughs)
TVHits: Does this mean that we may see a Paul and Hannah duet sometime?
Hannah: “Oh God no! That's far too corny!”
TVHits: Maybe you could do a cover of an old classic like Especially for you?
Hannah: “Oh no! I've got the image of that song in my head. NO!” (laughs)
