Big Brother 8 producers have designed new psychological tests to ensure that all of the contestants can cope with life in the house. Executives are determined to avoid criticism of their choice of housemates this year following the controversy caused when Big Brother 7's Shahbaz Chaudhry spoke about killing himself in the house. Celebrity Big Brother 5's Jo O'Meara also claimed that she should never have been allowed on to the show earlier this year.

Police investigations connected to the Big Brother television programme have cost about £350,000 over the last six years, it has been revealed. The inquiry into alleged racism in the latest Celebrity Big Brother series cost £14,503, Herts Police said. Production company Endemol, which makes the show at Elstree Studios, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, is meeting the costs. In March, it was decided no criminal charges would be brought in connection with the Big Brother racism row. The Crown Prosecution Service decided that what occurred was "clearly offensive" but "not criminal".

The Sydney Morning Herald magazine informs that Primeval begins this week on channel Nine in Australia. Here's a short introduction of the characters:

Having been recruited by a secret government department, Cutter assembles a team that includes a dishy lab technician (James Murray), a geeky but loveable graduate student (Andrew-Lee Potts) and a cute animal keeper (former S Club 7 member Hannah Spearritt). "We're like The A-Team, but with dinosaurs," Henshall jokes.
