The Kidnap Diaries tells the story of journalist Sean Langan who was held captive by the Taliban in 2008. It will be shown on BBC Four on 26 April 2012.
In 2008, British journalist Sean Langan visited Pakistan with the goal of filming Taliban training camps. He was kidnapped and held for nearly four months, the threat of death hanging over him the whole time. Now his story is being told in The Kidnap Diaries, a one hour drama due to be shown on BBC Four on Thursday 26 April 2012.
Douglas Henshall plays Langan, who was not unfamiliar with the dangers of dealing with the Taliban, having already made the award winning films Fighting the Taliban and Meeting the Taliban. Also in the play is Jimi Mistry, playing Samiullah Sharaf, a freelance journalist who was captured at the same time as Langan and also freed after three months.

Scottish actor Douglas Henshall is these days best known for his role as Nick Cutter in Primeval but his career dates back to the 1990s with his first recurring role being as Corporal Berry in Lipstick on Your Collar. Other roles have included Brian Forget in Common as Muck, Daniel Nash in Psychos, Tony Watson in Dalziel and Pascoe and Robert Dunbar in Sea of Souls. More recently, he played Detective Inspector John Tolin in Collision, Jim in The Silence and Joe Astell in South Riding.
